WINDSOR — The decades-long residency of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, at Royal Lodge has come to a humiliating and abrupt end. Following months of escalating pressure from King Charles III, the pair were reportedly “smuggled out” of the 30-room mansion under the cover of darkness on Monday night.

The eviction marks the final collapse of the “Windsor bubble” that had protected the former Duke and Duchess of York from the full weight of the Epstein scandal for years.

A Midnight Exit

Witnesses and royal sources describe a frantic scene at the Grade II-listed property. According to The Mirror, the King expedited the move after becoming “infuriated” by sightings of his disgraced brother horse-riding and waving to the public within the Windsor estate, appearing “oblivious” to the brewing legal storm.

Andrew reportedly had not even finished packing his belongings when the order came to vacate by midnight. Staff were left to cover furniture in dust sheets and pack the remnants of the former prince’s extensive possessions—including his infamous collection of teddy bears, into long-term storage.

“Separated at Last”

While the couple had lived together at Royal Lodge since 2008 despite their 1996 divorce, this eviction appears to have finally forced them onto separate paths.

  • Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has relocated to Wood Farm on the Sandringham Estate, the modest cottage where the late Prince Philip spent his retirement. He is expected to move permanently to Marsh Farm—a five-bedroom property on the same estate, once security renovations are complete.

  • Sarah Ferguson has reportedly “fled” abroad. While her exact location remains unconfirmed, royal biographer Andrew Lownie suggests she may be seeking refuge in Switzerland or a spa retreat in Thailand. Sources indicate she will no longer cohabitate with her ex-husband, as she looks to “spread her wings” away from the immediate fallout of the Epstein files.

MI6 Surveillance Revelations

The eviction coincides with sensational claims that the couple was historically placed under surveillance by MI6. Lownie alleges that Britain’s foreign intelligence agency “stumbled across” the pair while monitoring “shady associates” linked to Jeffrey Epstein.

The revelation has added fuel to the fire for those demanding a full parliamentary inquiry into Andrew’s tenure as a UK trade envoy. Experts suggest that the recent release of three million documents from the Department of Justice in the US, the so-called “Epstein Files”, has made the couple’s continued presence in a Crown-owned mansion a “reputational impossibility” for the monarchy.

A Birthday in Exile

The move was completed just days before Andrew’s 66th birthday on February 19. Unlike the lavish parties thrown by Ferguson at Royal Lodge in previous years, the former prince spent the day in isolation at Wood Farm, shortly before being taken into police custody for questioning regarding misconduct in public office.

As the gates of Royal Lodge remain locked and the Royal Collection art is stripped from its walls, the “York era” at Windsor has officially ended, not with a ceremony, but with a hasty retreat into the shadows of the Norfolk countryside.
