WASHINGTON D.C. — High-ranking Republican Senator Lindsey Graham has declared that Cuba is the next priority for the Trump administration’s “Gold Standard” foreign policy. Speaking on Fox News this Sunday, the South Carolina lawmaker suggested that the momentum from recent military actions in Iran and the successful removal of Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela has now turned toward Havana.
The “Reagan Standard” Reimagined
Graham’s comments come amidst the fallout of a massive joint U.S.-Israeli military operation in Iran, which has reportedly resulted in over 700 deaths, including the passing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
“I am a great admirer of Ronald Reagan,” Graham stated, “but I have to tell you, Donald Trump is the gold standard for Republicans, perhaps for any president, when it comes to foreign policy.”
The Senator highlighted the administration’s track record, specifically pointing to the arrest of Nicolás Maduro, who currently awaits trial in a United States prison. “Maduro? Everyone talked about him. Donald Trump put him in jail! Cuba is next. They are going to fall.”

"Cuba's next. They're going to fall. Their days are numbered."

Tensions Over High-Seas Lethal Force
The rhetoric against the Cuban government has intensified following a deadly maritime incident. The Cuban Coast Guard recently killed four crew members of a North American speedboat. While Havana claims the vessel ignored orders in international waters and initiated gunfire, Florida’s Attorney General has dismissed these claims, stating that “these communists” must be held accountable.
President Trump has adopted a dual-track tone, alternating between military pressure and the prospect of a “friendly takeover.”
-
The President’s Stance: Trump noted that Cuba “has nothing” and “wants the help of the United States.”
-
The Strategy: He hinted at ongoing discussions for a transition of power, suggesting that after decades of stagnation, change is finally “happening.”
A Regional Domino Effect
With the Iranian regime described by Graham as being “on the verge of collapse” following the death of its “captain,” the administration appears to be pivoting back to the Western Hemisphere. The Senator’s confident assertion that the Cuban “dictatorial regime” has its days numbered suggests that the “maximum pressure” campaign is expanding into a doctrine of active leadership displacement across the globe.
