OpenAI has announced the launch of OpenAI for Government, a new initiative aimed at bringing the company’s most advanced artificial intelligence tools to U.S. public sector employees. All use cases will comply with OpenAI’s established national security usage policies.
OpenAI has already demonstrated measurable benefits for public sector workers. In a pilot with Pennsylvania state employees, ChatGPT reduced time spent on routine tasks by an average of 105 minutes per day, freeing staff to focus on higher-value work. At Los Alamos, Lawrence Livermore, and Sandia National Laboratories, OpenAI’s models have been used to accelerate scientific research, strengthen national security readiness, and drive innovation in public service.
