Tesla has officially launched the Model Y Performance in the United States, delivering faster acceleration, extended range, and a host of new features. The updated crossover is priced at $57,490 and, for buyers who place orders before the September 30 tax credit deadline, remains eligible for the $7,500 federal EV tax credit.

The 2026 Model Y Performance now sprints from 0–60 mph in just 3.3 seconds, an improvement from the previous model year’s 3.5 seconds. Its EPA-rated range has increased to 308 miles, up from 277 miles, making it Tesla’s quickest and most efficient Model Y yet.

Exterior Upgrades

Tesla has introduced a series of performance-oriented design tweaks:

  • New front and rear fascia for a sportier look

  • Performance carbon spoiler to improve aerodynamics by increasing downforce and reducing drag

  • New 21-inch Arachnid wheels and staggered-fitment tires for enhanced grip and steering response

  • Adaptive damping suspension for smoother handling and improved ride stability

Performance Enhancements

  • New Drive Modes to tailor high-speed driving dynamics

  • Increased charge capacity with high-density battery cells for longer range and faster charging

Interior Refinements

Tesla has also focused on cabin comfort and ergonomics:

  • Premium sound-damping materials and acoustic glass for a quieter ride

  • Heated and ventilated front sport seats plus heated, power-reclining rear seats with added bolstering for better support during cornering

  • Cornered thigh cushion extenders, already featured in China’s Model Y L and the European Performance variant

  • 16-inch high-resolution touchscreen for enhanced infotainment

U.S. Market Launch

The Model Y Performance had been available in Europe earlier this month, but this marks its debut in Tesla’s home market. The company expects the U.S. launch to boost its quarterly delivery figures by several thousand units, particularly with the incentive of the expiring EV tax credit.

With quicker acceleration, a longer range, and upgraded aesthetics and features, Tesla’s Model Y Performance aims to solidify its position as one of the most attractive performance EV crossovers on the market.
