Max Verstappen, fresh off an impressive victory at the United States Grand Prix, made it clear that his pursuit of a fifth Formula 1 title is far from certain. Despite reducing the gap to championship leader Oscar Piastri to just 40 points, the Red Bull Racing driver remains cautious and emphasized that perfection will be required for him to clinch the title by season’s end.
“I think we need to be perfect until the end to have a chance,” Verstappen said, reflecting on his dominant win in Austin, which marked his third victory in the last four races. “We’ve closed the gap significantly, but at the same time, the margins are very small. Every weekend, you need to aim for perfection, and that’s what we’ll try to do until the end,” he added.
While Verstappen’s results in the last few Grand Prix have been stellar, the Dutchman knows there is still a lot of work ahead. “It was a perfect weekend for us. What was crucial today was the first stint, where I was able to open up a gap because after that, the pace pretty much stabilized after the pit stop and until the end of the race,” he concluded.
