WARSAW — Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced Wednesday that Poland will launch a sweeping investigation into the global sex-trafficking network of Jeffrey Epstein, citing grave concerns over the exploitation of Polish women and children and potential ties to Russian intelligence services.
The announcement marks a significant escalation in the international fallout following the U.S. Department of Justice’s recent release of nearly three million pages of documents related to the late financier. Speaking before a cabinet meeting, Tusk described the revelations as “completely unprecedented,” suggesting that newly surfaced “Polish threads” necessitate a rapid, top-tier national security response.

A ‘Satanic Circle’ Under Scrutiny
In a video posted to social media, Tusk used pointed language to describe the criminal network, referring to it as a “satanic circle.” He emphasized that the Polish government would not allow any leads regarding the abuse of Polish citizens to be treated lightly.
“The first pieces of information have appeared relating to individuals who informed Mr. Epstein from Krakow that they already had a group of Polish women or girls,” Tusk stated.
To address these claims, the Prime Minister has ordered the creation of a specialized analytical team led by the Minister of Justice and the Prosecutor General. This task force will include members of the police, prosecutors, and national security services, working under classified procedures to analyze the Epstein files “file by file.”
National Security and the Russian Connection
Beyond the horrific allegations of human trafficking, the investigation is centered on a major national security concern: the possibility that Epstein’s operation was utilized by Russian special services.
Analysts and Polish officials have raised alarms that Epstein’s activities may have been a front for gathering kompromat, compromising material, on influential Western figures. Tusk warned that such material, if it exists in Russian hands, poses a continuing threat to democratic institutions and Polish sovereignty.
“Questions about links between Epstein and the entire pedophile circle and the Russian special services… must, above all, be clarified by us in the light of the security of the Polish state,” Tusk said.
International Cooperation
While the initial team remains small and specialized, Polish officials indicated they may seek further unpublished evidence from U.S. authorities. Tusk also floated the possibility of advocating for a broader international investigation, as more European nations begin to find their own citizens mentioned in the expansive digital and physical archives left behind by Epstein.
The Kremlin has historically dismissed allegations of involvement in the Epstein scandal. In previous statements, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova characterized the Epstein files as a reflection of Western elite hypocrisy rather than a matter of Russian espionage.
As the analytical team begins its work immediately, the Polish public remains on edge. The investigation promises to be one of the most complex in the country’s modern history, sitting at the intersection of criminal justice, international sex trafficking, and Cold War-style espionage.
