TEHRAN — Ali Larijani, the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, issued a scathing rebuff to Washington on Monday, firmly declaring that Tehran will not enter into negotiations with the United States. His remarks come amid swirling reports suggesting that Iran might be seeking a diplomatic backchannel to revive stalled talks.
In a series of pointed statements, Larijani addressed the current state of regional tensions, placing the blame squarely on U.S. President Donald Trump. Larijani accused the American leader of “plunging the region into chaos” through a foreign policy driven by “false hopes” and “delusional actions.”
The senior official further alleged that the “America First” doctrine has been effectively subverted into an “Israel First” policy. Larijani claimed that the Trump administration has sacrificed the safety of American service members to bolster what he described as Israel’s “relentless pursuit of power.”
“With new lies, he is once again making American soldiers and their families pay the price for his personality cult,” Larijani stated, emphasizing that Iran’s military actions are strictly defensive in nature.
The refusal to negotiate marks a significant hardening of Tehran’s stance following a period of intense military and economic pressure. While the White House recently signaled a potential willingness to talk amid ongoing regional strikes, Larijani’s comments suggest that the trust deficit between the two capitals has reached a nadir.
As regional volatility continues to climb, Larijani reaffirmed that the Iranian people and their armed forces remain prepared to defend their borders, maintaining that Tehran has no intention of launching an invasion but will not be intimidated by “personality-driven” diplomacy.
