Poland has declared its readiness to host additional American troops in an effort to strengthen NATO’s eastern flank and reinforce European security amid growing regional tensions linked to the war in Ukraine.
Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said Saturday that the alliance between Poland and the United States remains the “foundation” of Poland’s national security strategy.
“The Polish-American alliance is the foundation of our security,” Kosiniak-Kamysz wrote on X.
“Poland is ready to receive additional American soldiers to strengthen NATO’s eastern flank and provide even better protection for Europe,” he added.

Concerns Over US Troop Reductions in Europe
The remarks came shortly after Pete Hegseth announced plans to withdraw approximately 5,000 U.S. troops from Germany.

Germany currently hosts between 35,000 and 37,000 U.S. military personnel and serves as one of Washington’s most important operational hubs on the continent.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk recently warned that NATO’s greatest danger may come from internal divisions rather than external threats.
“The ongoing disintegration of our alliance must be reversed,” Tusk said, calling for stronger transatlantic coordination and unity among NATO members.
A NATO spokeswoman later confirmed that alliance officials are currently working with U.S. authorities to clarify the scope and implications of the proposed troop reductions.
