The United States has completed another major wave of military strikes against Iran, marking the third consecutive day of operations as Washington intensifies its campaign against Iranian military capabilities along the country’s southern coastline.
According to the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), the latest operation targeted facilities linked to Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategically important maritime chokepoints.
Precision Strikes Across Southern Iran
CENTCOM said the five-hour operation concluded late Monday and involved precision-guided attacks against multiple military targets located in Bushehr, Chah Bahar, Jask, Konarak, Abu Musa, and Bandar Abbas.
The operation focused on Iranian coastal defense systems, missile launch sites, drone infrastructure, and maritime military assets that U.S. officials say have been used to threaten international shipping in the Gulf.
Military officials stated that more than 50,000 U.S. service members remain deployed across the Middle East and emphasized that American forces remain prepared for additional operations if required.
Campaign Enters Third Consecutive Day
The latest strikes represent the third straight day of American military action following escalating attacks on commercial vessels operating near the Strait of Hormuz.
Washington argues the campaign is intended to reduce Iran’s capacity to disrupt one of the world’s busiest energy corridors while protecting international freedom of navigation.
President Donald Trump said the United States is targeting military capabilities connected to operations in the Strait of Hormuz while maintaining that a diplomatic agreement with Tehran remains possible despite the continuing escalation.
Iran Reports Explosions, Drone Downing
Iranian state media reported multiple explosions in Bandar Abbas, Kish Island, and Qeshm Island during the operation.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) also claimed to have shot down a U.S. MQ-1 drone operating over the Strait of Hormuz, although U.S. officials had not publicly commented on that claim at the time of reporting.
Shipping Crisis Continues
The military escalation follows a series of attacks on commercial shipping that have significantly increased tensions throughout the Gulf.
Iran has accused the United States of directing commercial tankers through unauthorized routes before recent attacks on vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, while Washington continues to blame Tehran for targeting civilian maritime traffic.
The renewed conflict has further disrupted shipping through the strategic waterway, raising concerns over global energy supplies and increasing volatility in international oil markets.
Regional Stability Under Pressure
The latest exchange of military action underscores the rapid deterioration of security across the Middle East, with both Washington and Tehran maintaining increasingly aggressive positions.
International observers continue to warn that prolonged military operations around the Strait of Hormuz could have significant consequences for regional stability, global trade and international energy markets.
Despite the escalation, U.S. officials continue to state that diplomatic options remain available, although no immediate signs of de-escalation have emerged.
