Kim Wilde, the iconic 64-year-old pop legend behind hits like “Kids in America,” “Chequered Love,” and “You Came,” has expressed her desire to perform at Glastonbury Festival and is hoping for the chance to headline the Sunday Legends Slot on the Pyramid Stage. Wilde has long admired the festival and has shared that being part of it would be one of the highlights of her career.

When asked about the prospect of performing at Glastonbury, Kim smiled and said, “That would be so nice,” revealing that she watches the festival every year and dreams of one day performing her greatest hits for the thousands of festival-goers. If she never gets the chance to perform, she would still love to experience the festival as a fan.

She has great respect for Glastonbury’s egalitarian spirit, saying, “It’s not who you are that gets in, it’s not that kind of a gig. I respect that. It’s not about who you know… I like the fact that I can’t swing a ticket; I think that says a lot about Glastonbury. It’s for the people, that’s exactly who that concert is for, it’s not for the likes of me to just breeze up and get a backstage pass, that’s not right at all.”

Kim Wilde is currently touring the UK to promote her 15th studio album, Closer, released in January 2025. Her brother, Ricky Wilde, and her niece, Scarlett Wilde, co-wrote and co-produced the album, joining Kim on the road. The tour has received positive feedback, and she’s excited to take it worldwide.

Kim also spoke about her determination to keep making music: “We took the last two years doing Closer, we’re delighted with the reaction to it. The tour is our big priority right now, and we’ll be taking it around the world a bit. That’s what this year is about, then who knows? Music doesn’t seem to be going anywhere for me; I’m not in the mood for slowing down.”

Reflecting on previous artists who have headlined the Legends Slot, such as Kylie MinogueDolly PartonLionel Richie, and Diana Ross, Wilde expressed her hope to be a part of that prestigious tradition: “I couldn’t say I wouldn’t love to see my name on a Glasto line-up one year! I would love it if it did.”

Kim’s desire to take the stage at Glastonbury is just one chapter in her ongoing career, as she continues to captivate fans both old and new. As she gears up for her 2025 UK Tour, fans can catch her at various venues across the UK, including Bristol, London, Liverpool, and Glasgow, with support from Cutting Crew on selected dates.
