Lando Norris stunned the competition to claim pole position for the 2025 Formula 1 Mexican Grand Prix, marking his 14th career pole and fifth of the season. The McLaren driver’s remarkable performance in the qualifying session at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez not only secured the top spot on the grid but also added pressure on his teammate Oscar Piastri, who starts from the seventh position.

Verstappen set an early benchmark with 1:16.455, but Norris immediately responded, taking the lead by 0.285 seconds. Piastri, who had been consistent throughout the weekend, was in P3 early on but struggled to match the pace of his teammate, Norris.
As the clock ticked down, Norris continued to impress with his performance. In the final moments, Norris posted a stunning lap time of 1:15.586, securing pole position by a comfortable margin over Leclerc, who finished second. Hamilton also improved late in the session to take third place. Verstappen, despite his struggles with grip, found some improvement and climbed to P4, while Piastri was relegated to seventh.
