PRISTINA, Kosovo – Turkish forces serving under NATO’s Kosovo Force (KFOR) continue to conduct patrols across Kosovo, maintaining security and supporting regional stability.
KFOR shared images of Turkish troops’ activities on social media, highlighting their role in providing a visible and reassuring presence on the ground while enhancing situational awareness. A statement on Instagram noted that “through their professionalism and commitment, they contribute to regional stability and play a key role in KFOR’s ongoing mission to maintain a safe and secure environment for all people living in Kosovo.”
Established on June 12, 1999, under a UN Security Council mandate, KFOR currently comprises more than 4,500 military personnel from 33 NATO and non-NATO countries. Turkish troops have been part of the mission since its inception, and Türkiye assumed command of KFOR for a one-year term starting October 3, 2025.
During its tenure, Turkish forces continue to patrol key areas in Kosovo, ensuring the safety of local communities, supporting situational monitoring, and contributing to the overall stability of the region.
KFOR’s ongoing presence demonstrates NATO’s commitment to maintaining peace in the Western Balkans, with Turkish forces playing a pivotal role in the alliance’s multinational effort.
