WASHINGTON/TEHRAN – President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to the Iranian leadership, declaring that “time is running out” for the Islamic Republic to secure a new nuclear deal or face military consequences “far worse” than previous engagements. The warning coincides with the arrival of a formidable U.S. naval strike group in Middle Eastern waters, a force the President has characterized as a “massive armada.”

In a series of statements, President Trump emphasized that the deployment, led by the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, is “ready, willing, and able” to fulfill its mission with “speed and violence” if negotiations fail to materialize. The President is demanding a “fair and equitable deal” that ensures Iran never acquires nuclear weapons, explicitly linking the current military posturing to Tehran’s recent domestic instability and its nuclear ambitions.

“Hopefully Iran will quickly ‘Come to the Table’ and negotiate,” Trump stated, invoking memories of “Operation Midnight Hammer,” the June 2025 U.S. strikes that targeted Iranian nuclear facilities. “The next attack will be far worse! Don’t make that happen again.”

The Iranian government has reacted with defiance. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi rejected the possibility of talks under duress, stating that “conducting diplomacy through military pressure is neither effective nor useful.” Tehran has further warned that any U.S. aggression will be met with an “unprecedented and comprehensive” response, placing U.S. bases across the region in its crosshairs.

The escalation comes at a moment of extreme internal pressure for Tehran, following a nationwide protest movement that rights groups say has resulted in thousands of deaths and tens of thousands of arrests. While U.S. officials suggest the goal is to compel a return to the negotiating table, some analysts believe the current strategy may be aimed at facilitating broader regime change.

As the “armada” takes its position, regional allies including Saudi Arabia and the UAE have expressed concern, reportedly lobbying the White House for de-escalation while refusing to allow their airspace to be used for offensive strikes. With oil prices surging and the global community on edge, the next few days are expected to be a critical test for international diplomacy.
