WOKING — To celebrate a dominant season on the world’s racing circuits, McLaren has revealed its most exclusive road-going tribute yet: the Artura Spider MCL39 Championship Edition. This ultra-rare variant of the hybrid supercar is a direct homage to the MCL39 Formula 1 car, designed to bridge the gap between the grand prix grid and the open road.

The special edition arrives as McLaren enjoys a resurgence in form, with the “Championship Edition” branding serving as a bold statement of the brand’s current engineering prowess.

A Livery Born on the Track

The most immediate distinction of the MCL39 Edition is its bespoke visual identity. Each of the limited-run units is finished in a unique “Papaya Spark” and “Cerulean Blue” color scheme, meticulously matched to the 2024/25 F1 livery.

The car features hand-painted carbon fiber accents and a subtle “39” motif integrated into the aero-sculpted bodywork. Perhaps most notably, the brake calipers are finished in a specific shade of “Speedway Blue,” a detail usually reserved for the team’s race-day hardware.

Hybrid Performance, Sharpened

While the standard Artura Spider is already a formidable machine, the MCL39 Championship Edition receives several hardware “optimizations” inspired by the F1 team’s feedback.

  • Enhanced Response: The 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 and axial-flux electric motor have been recalibrated to deliver a combined 690 bhp, with an emphasis on “instant-torque” delivery during mid-range acceleration.

  • Lightweight Focus: Extensive use of McLaren’s “MSO” (McLaren Special Operations) carbon fiber components, including the front splitter, rear diffuser, and a bespoke engine cover, shaves several kilograms off the standard curb weight.

  • Track-Tuned Dynamics: The suspension has been stiffened by 5% and features a unique software map for the Proactive Chassis Control system, specifically tuned for high-speed stability.

The “Cockpit” Experience

Inside, the F1 inspiration continues. The interior is upholstered in lightweight Carbon Black Alcantara with Papaya stitching. The most coveted feature for collectors, however, is the dedicated dedication plaque signed by McLaren F1 drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, alongside CEO Zak Brown.

The Championship Edition also includes McLaren’s “Clubsport” bucket seats as standard, which are 25% lighter than the regular sport seats and designed to accommodate a racing harness for those taking their tribute to the track.

Ultra-Rare Exclusivity

McLaren has confirmed that production will be strictly limited to just 39 units worldwide, making it one of the most collectible modern McLarens in recent years. Each owner will also receive a custom-made 1:8 scale model of their car and an invitation to an exclusive track day at the Silverstone circuit.

“This car isn’t just a paint job; it’s a celebration of McLaren’s racing DNA,” said a spokesperson for MSO. “It’s for the driver who wants to feel a piece of that Sunday afternoon victory every time they press the start button.”
