WASHINGTON — The Pentagon is preparing a series of high-stakes military options for a “final blow” against Iran, according to officials familiar with the planning. The move comes as President Donald Trump issued a final ultimatum to Tehran on Thursday, warning the regime to “get serious” in negotiations, “before it is too late.”

The escalation in rhetoric and military posturing follows weeks of a devastating air campaign that has already claimed the lives of several top Iranian leaders. Military planners are now reportedly presenting the White House with four primary options designed to force a conclusion to the conflict and reopen the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

Four Paths to a ‘Final Blow’: According to reports first detailed by Axios, the Pentagon’s strategic focus centers on crippling Iran’s ability to control global energy corridors and its remaining military infrastructure. The four major options under consideration include:

  • Seizing Kharg Island: A move to invade or blockade Iran’s primary oil export hub, effectively cutting off the regime’s remaining economic lifeline.

  • Occupying Larak Island: A strategic strike to neutralize Iranian attack craft, radars, and bunkers that currently monitor and threaten shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

  • Seizing Abu Musa: Capturing the strategic island near the western entrance of the strait, a territory also claimed by the UAE, to secure the waterway.

  • Eastern Blockade: Implementing a total maritime blockade on the eastern side of the strait to intercept any remaining Iranian oil tankers.

Beyond these island-based operations, the administration is also weighing high-risk contingency plans for ground incursions deep into the Iranian interior to secure nuclear facilities and highly enriched uranium.

‘No Turning Back’: President Trump took to social media on Thursday to amplify the pressure, claiming that while Iranian negotiators are “begging” for a deal behind the scenes, their public defiance is a “miscalculation.”

“They better get serious soon… because once that happens, there is NO TURNING BACK, and it won’t be pretty!” the President wrote. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt echoed this sentiment, stating the President is “ready to unleash hell” if a diplomatic off-ramp is rejected.

Despite the President’s claims of progress, Iranian officials remain deeply skeptical. Iranian Parliamentary Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf warned that any attempt to occupy Iranian territory would trigger “relentless attacks” against regional infrastructure and financial institutions linked to U.S. debt holdings.

Military Build-Up Continues: As the diplomatic standoff intensifies, the U.S. military footprint in the region continues to grow. Elements of the 82nd Airborne Division and a Marine Expeditionary Unit are reportedly deploying to the Middle East this week, joining several newly arrived fighter jet squadrons.

The Pentagon’s planning reflects a growing belief in Washington that only a “crushing show of force” will provide the necessary leverage to end the month-long war on U.S. terms. However, with global oil markets in a tailspin and domestic skepticism rising, the stakes for a “final blow” remain historically high.
