Senior U.S. military officials have presented President Donald Trump with a range of options for a possible decisive strike against Iran, according to a report citing defense sources.

The briefing, led by Brad Cooper, commander of US Central Command, reportedly took place in the White House Situation Room. It outlined scenarios for a “short and powerful wave of strikes” designed to significantly degrade Iran’s remaining military capabilities.

According to the report, potential targets include key elements of Iran’s military infrastructure, leadership networks, and strategic assets. Such an operation would aim to apply overwhelming pressure on Tehran in the event that diplomatic efforts fail to secure a lasting resolution to the conflict.

Among the advanced systems under consideration is a hypersonic missile known as “Dark Eagle,” capable of striking targets at distances of up to 2,000 miles. The weapon is designed to neutralize high-value targets such as ballistic missile launchers with speed and precision.

The Pentagon is also said to be increasing the deployment of B-1B Lancer aircraft in the region. These long-range bombers can carry heavy payloads, including advanced munitions, and are viewed as a central component of any large-scale strike operation.

The latest developments come against the backdrop of a fragile ceasefire. The United States and Israel launched coordinated strikes on Iran on February 28, triggering retaliatory actions from Tehran and escalating tensions across the Gulf. The conflict disrupted shipping routes and led to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital corridor for global energy supplies.

A ceasefire was brokered on April 8 through mediation efforts by Pakistan, followed by talks in Islamabad. However, negotiations failed to produce a comprehensive agreement, leaving the situation unresolved.

President Trump later extended the truce unilaterally, though no clear timeline has been established for its duration. The absence of a formal settlement has kept military options on the table, even as diplomatic channels remain open.

As tensions persist, the prospect of further escalation continues to weigh on regional stability and global markets, with any renewed military action likely to have far-reaching consequences.
