US President Donald Trump announced that “Project Freedom,” the American operation aimed at securing commercial maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, will be temporarily paused amid ongoing diplomatic efforts involving Iran.

In a statement published on his Truth Social platform, Trump said the decision followed requests from Pakistan and several other countries seeking additional time for negotiations to reduce tensions in the Gulf region.

According to Trump, the move comes after what he described as “tremendous military success” during recent operations connected to the confrontation with Iran.

He stressed, however, that broader blockade measures imposed by the United States would remain active despite the suspension of the escort mission.

Project Freedom had been launched to ensure safe passage for commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategically important waterways and a vital route for global oil exports.

The announcement follows weeks of heightened military tensions in the Gulf, including reports of drone activity, missile launches, and confrontations involving naval forces near the strait.

Markets reacted cautiously to the development, with analysts viewing the temporary pause as a possible signal that diplomatic negotiations between Washington and Tehran may be advancing.

Iranian officials have repeatedly insisted there is “no military solution” to the crisis and have called for political dialogue to avoid wider regional instability.

The Strait of Hormuz remains at the center of global attention as governments and energy markets continue to monitor the situation closely amid fears that any prolonged disruption could affect international trade and energy supplies.
