At least eight people were killed and 41 others injured after a major fire tore through a commercial complex west of Tehran, Iranian media reported on Wednesday.
The blaze broke out Tuesday at the Arghavan commercial complex in Andisheh, located in the Shahriar district west of the Iranian capital. Authorities said the fire spread rapidly through the building, creating heavy smoke and trapping people inside.
According to the semi-official Fars News Agency, the Shahriar district governor confirmed that eight people died as a result of the incident.

Emergency teams and firefighters were deployed to the scene as rescue operations continued for several hours.
Officials from Andisheh’s Fire Department said all individuals trapped by flames and smoke were eventually evacuated, and the building was later fully cleared.
Authorities believe the building’s composite exterior facade contributed to the rapid spread of the fire, allowing flames to move quickly across large sections of the structure.
Video footage circulating on Iranian media and social networks showed thick black smoke rising above the commercial center while emergency crews attempted to contain the blaze.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The incident adds to growing concerns in Iran over fire safety standards and emergency preparedness in large commercial and residential buildings, particularly following several deadly fires in recent years across the country.
