Marc Márquez delivered a commanding performance to win the Sprint race at the Hungarian Grand Prix on Saturday, leading from start to finish at Balaton Park and leaving his rivals with little opportunity to challenge for victory.
Starting from pole position, the Ducati rider controlled all 13 laps of the race and crossed the finish line comfortably ahead of the field, securing maximum Sprint points and reinforcing his status as one of the leading contenders for the 2026 MotoGP crown.
Pedro Acosta finished second for KTM after a solid race, while championship leader Marco Bezzecchi completed the podium in third aboard his Aprilia.

Perfect Start for Márquez
The race began exactly as Márquez had hoped, with the Spaniard maintaining the lead into the opening corners ahead of Acosta and Bezzecchi.
Behind them, Fermín Aldeguer settled into fourth place while Raúl Fernández occupied fifth. One of the biggest gainers at the start was Brazilian rider Diogo Moreira, who climbed from 11th on the grid to sixth during the opening lap.
In contrast, Fabio Di Giannantonio suffered a difficult launch, dropping six positions and falling to tenth.
Within the first two laps, Márquez had already built a one-second advantage over Acosta, immediately establishing control of the race.
Battle for the Podium
While Márquez escaped at the front, the fight behind him remained intense.
Aldeguer put pressure on Bezzecchi in the battle for third place, but the Gresini Ducati rider’s charge suffered a setback on lap four when he made a mistake and narrowly avoided crashing. The error dropped him back to fifth position.
At the same time, Jorge Martín began attacking Moreira for sixth place. The Aprilia rider eventually completed the pass, although the Brazilian remained close enough to keep the pressure on.
Acosta maintained second position throughout the race but was unable to match Márquez’s pace. The KTM rider found himself isolated, comfortably ahead of Bezzecchi but unable to reduce the gap to the Ducati rider leading the race.
Moreira Records Best Sprint Result
Diogo Moreira continued to impress as he secured the strongest Sprint performance of his MotoGP career.
The Brazilian stayed competitive throughout the race and crossed the line in seventh position, earning valuable points and demonstrating the growing competitiveness of both himself and the LCR Honda team.
Moreira spent much of the race chasing Martín and remained within striking distance of the Spaniard, although he was unable to find a safe overtaking opportunity.
Comfortable Victory
As the race entered its closing stages, Márquez remained fully in control.
The Ducati rider consistently maintained a gap of around two seconds over Acosta before managing the final laps without taking unnecessary risks. He eventually took the checkered flag approximately 1.5 seconds ahead of the KTM rider.
Bezzecchi secured third place and important championship points, while Fernández and Aldeguer rounded out the top five.
With the Sprint victory secured, Márquez heads into Sunday’s Hungarian Grand Prix with momentum firmly on his side and as the favorite to complete a perfect weekend at Balaton Park.
