Mandalika, Indonesia · 11 October 2026 · MotoGP 2026 Race Report

The 2026 Indonesian Grand Prix delivered a defining weekend for Aprilia Racing as Marco Bezzecchi claimed victory at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit, leading an extraordinary display of strength from the Italian manufacturer.

Raúl Fernández finished second, Jorge Martín completed the podium in third, and Ai Ogura secured fourth place, giving Aprilia the first four positions in a Grand Prix that significantly altered the championship picture.

For Bezzecchi, victory represented another important achievement in a season in which Aprilia had established itself as a formidable challenger to Ducati. For Martín, third place carried even greater significance: the Spaniard regained the lead of the riders’ championship, moving two points ahead of Marc Márquez.

With the season approaching its conclusion, Mandalika provided both a celebration for Aprilia and another dramatic shift in the battle for the world title.

Bezzecchi delivers when it matters

The Mandalika circuit presents a distinctive challenge. Its combination of fast direction changes, technical corners and demanding tropical conditions places considerable pressure on riders, tyres and machinery.

Bezzecchi responded with the speed and consistency required to convert Aprilia’s competitive advantage into victory.

The Italian demonstrated the qualities that had made him one of the championship’s strongest performers: confidence on corner entry, precise motorcycle control and the ability to maintain a competitive rhythm over race distance.

His triumph also carried broader significance for Aprilia. Rather than relying on a single exceptional performance, the manufacturer demonstrated the depth of its motorcycle package across multiple riders and teams.

An extraordinary Aprilia sweep

The scale of Aprilia’s achievement became clear when the leading riders crossed the finish line.

Martín’s third place completed the factory team’s double podium and ensured that both Aprilia Racing riders contributed to a remarkable collective result.

The finishing order underlined how effectively the Aprilia RS-GP platform performed at Mandalika, where the ability to maintain corner speed and manage tyre performance proved especially valuable.

Jorge Martín returns to the championship lead

Although Bezzecchi celebrated the race victory, Jorge Martín emerged from Indonesia with a result of considerable championship importance.

After losing ground to Marc Márquez at the Japanese Grand Prix, Martín responded at Mandalika with the points required to reclaim first place in the standings.

With only two points separating the championship contenders, the title fight remained exceptionally close.

Martín’s result demonstrated the importance of consistency. While he was unable to challenge Bezzecchi for victory, securing a podium allowed him to capitalise on the weekend and regain the initiative.

For Márquez, the outcome increased the pressure to respond in the remaining rounds.

Trackhouse strengthens Aprilia’s position

One of the most encouraging aspects of the Indonesian Grand Prix for Aprilia was the contribution of Trackhouse.

Raúl Fernández’s second place showed that the independent team could compete at the front, while Ai Ogura’s fourth-place finish reinforced the consistency of the Aprilia package.

The result illustrated the benefits of competitive machinery across factory and satellite operations. For Aprilia, having four riders capable of finishing at the front provided a substantial advantage in the wider manufacturer competition.

A championship entering its decisive phase

Mandalika demonstrated that the 2026 MotoGP title race was far from settled.

Bezzecchi’s victory confirmed his status as a leading Grand Prix contender, while Martín’s podium changed the championship leadership once again.

The weekend also sent a clear message to Ducati: Aprilia had the speed, rider strength and technical competitiveness to challenge across different circuit configurations.

Attention now turns to the Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island, scheduled for 23–25 October, where the championship’s leading riders will face another demanding challenge.

For Aprilia, Indonesia was a landmark achievement. For Martín, it was a crucial step in the pursuit of the world championship. And for Bezzecchi, it was another victory that demonstrated his growing importance in MotoGP’s competitive landscape.
