Maranello, July 31, 2025 — Ferrari has announced the multi-year contract extension of team principal Frédéric Vasseur, putting an end to speculation over his future following a mixed start to the 2025 Formula 1 season.
The 57-year-old French engineer, who took over as Ferrari’s team principal in 2022 following the departure of Mattia Binotto, has been credited with bringing renewed structure and focus to the legendary Scuderia. In an official statement, the Italian team praised Vasseur’s leadership and highlighted the steady progress made under his direction.
Vasseur’s extension comes at a critical moment for Ferrari. Rumors of his potential departure had been swirling in recent weeks, particularly as the team struggled to keep pace with championship leaders McLaren in the first half of the season. However, this contract renewal signals Ferrari’s long-term faith in Vasseur’s vision.

The announcement was met with enthusiastic support from Ferrari’s drivers, Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton, both of whom had previously expressed confidence in Vasseur’s leadership. Leclerc, currently fifth in the drivers’ standings, and Hamilton, in sixth, have voiced optimism about the team’s development trajectory despite recent challenges.
As of the Hungarian Grand Prix this weekend, the 14th round of the season, Ferrari holds second place in the Constructors’ Championship, albeit a substantial 268 points behind the dominant McLaren.
Vasseur’s continued presence is expected to provide much-needed stability as Ferrari eyes a return to championship contention in the coming seasons. His renewed deal not only reinforces the team’s strategic direction but also solidifies a united front heading into the latter half of the 2025 campaign.
With Leclerc and Hamilton on board and Vasseur’s leadership reaffirmed, Ferrari now looks to build momentum and close the gap to McLaren in what remains of the season.
