TUCSON, Ariz. — Federal and local law enforcement officials have released the first visual evidence of a potential suspect in the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Today show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie.

The breakthrough comes ten days after Guthrie was abducted from her home in Tucson. On Tuesday, February 10, 2026, FBI Director Kash Patel released surveillance footage showing a masked, armed individual on Guthrie’s porch in the early morning hours of February 1.

A High-Tech Recovery

The images were recovered through a specialized forensic effort between the FBI and private-sector tech partners. Investigators managed to retrieve residual data from the home’s Nest doorbell camera, which had been disconnected at approximately 1:47 a.m. the night Guthrie vanished.

The footage shows an individual wearing a mask, gloves, and a backpack. The subject appears to be armed and is seen tampering with and eventually obscuring the camera lens shortly before the device was disabled.

Timeline of a Disappearance

Nancy Guthrie was last seen alive on the evening of January 31, when family members dropped her off at her home in the Catalina Foothills at approximately 9:48 p.m.

  • Feb. 1, 1:47 a.m.: Doorbell camera is disconnected.

  • Feb. 1, 2:28 a.m.: Data from Guthrie’s pacemaker app shows the device disconnected from her phone, a key indicator of when she may have been removed from the house.

  • Feb. 1, 12:03 p.m.: Family reports her missing after she fails to attend a virtual church service.

  • Feb. 3-9: Purported ransom notes demanding millions in Bitcoin are sent to media outlets, setting deadlines that have since passed without further contact.

“We Believe Our Mom is Still Out There”

The Guthrie family has remained in the national spotlight, making frequent and emotional pleas for their mother’s safe return. Savannah Guthrie, alongside siblings Annie and Camron, has expressed a willingness to cooperate with the captors, emphasizing that their mother is a vulnerable adult with a heart condition who requires daily medication.

“We need to know without a doubt that she is alive,” Savannah said in a video plea. “We are ready to listen. Please reach out to us.”

Ongoing Investigation

While the new images provide a significant lead, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos cautioned that the individual has not yet been identified. DNA testing has confirmed that the blood found on the front porch belongs to Nancy Guthrie, confirming early suspicions of foul play.

The FBI is currently offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the recovery of Nancy Guthrie or the arrest of those involved.
