TEHRAN / ISLAMABAD — The newly installed Supreme Leader of Iran, Mojtaba Khamenei, has been moved to a “highly secure, secret location” following a narrow escape from a precision assassination attempt in Tehran. The move, reported by the Pakistan Observer, underscores the extreme vulnerability of the Iranian high command as the joint U.S.-Israeli military campaign continues to decapitate the country’s leadership.

The strike, which reportedly targeted a reinforced compound in the Iranian capital, comes only days after Mojtaba assumed the mantle of Supreme Leader following the death of his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, during the opening wave of “Operation Epic Fury” on February 28.

A SHADOW LEADERSHIP

According to intelligence sources, the junior Khamenei was whisked away by an elite unit of the Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) moments before a series of bunker-buster munitions leveled a suspected command-and-control center. Since the strike, the new leader has not appeared in public, leading to intense speculation regarding his physical condition and his ability to maintain control over the “Resistance” strategy.

Sources in the region suggest the move is part of a broader “continuity of government” protocol. The IRGC has reportedly activated a network of deep-underground facilities—many located beneath mountain ranges or heavily populated urban centers, to protect the remaining clerical and military elite from the coalition’s persistent aerial surveillance and drone strikes.

THE “ATTRITION” BROADCAST

Despite his physical absence, a pre-recorded audio message purportedly from Mojtaba was broadcast via state-aligned Telegram channels late Tuesday. In the message, the leader doubled down on the “war of attrition” strategy, urging his followers to “inflict pain on the occupiers” through asymmetric strikes on global oil interests and U.S. regional assets.

“Our strength is not in our palaces, but in our resolve,” the voice stated, echoing the defiant rhetoric that has defined the Islamic Republic’s response to the invasion. However, analysts note that the reliance on pre-recorded messages and secret bunkers suggests a regime that is increasingly disconnected from its own front lines.

INTELLIGENCE LEAKS AND PARANOIA

The precision of the latest strike has reportedly triggered a wave of paranoia within the IRGC. Tehran has announced the arrest of over 30 individuals accused of spying for the U.S. and Israel, amid fears that the “Eye of God”, the coalition’s high-tech surveillance network, is being fed by high-level informants within the Iranian security apparatus.

As the Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi prepares for a “transitional phase” from abroad, the current occupant of the Supreme Leadership finds himself a prisoner of his own security measures, ruling from the shadows of a nation that is rapidly being dismantled from the skies.
