The Spanish Grand Prix in MotoGP delivered a dramatic twist in both the race and the championship standings, as Álex Márquez claimed victory in Jerez de la Frontera following a crash by his brother, Marc Márquez.
Starting from fifth on the grid, Álex Márquez executed a composed and strategic race. After overtaking Marc early on, he took control and steadily built a gap, ultimately crossing the finish line 1.903 seconds ahead of Marco Bezzecchi.
Marc Márquez had initially made a strong start from pole position, leading the opening lap and ending Bezzecchi’s streak of 121 consecutive laps in the lead. However, his race came to an abrupt end when he crashed heavily at Turn 11 on just the second lap, removing him from contention.

Despite finishing second, Bezzecchi emerged as the biggest winner of the weekend in championship terms. The Italian rider strengthened his lead in the standings, now holding 101 points, extending his advantage over Jorge Martín, who finished fourth and now trails by 11 points.
Third place went to Fabio Di Giannantonio, who secured a podium finish for Ducati, finishing 5.796 seconds behind the winner. Meanwhile, Francesco Bagnaia endured a disappointing race, forced to retire due to mechanical issues.
Jorge Martín, who had previously led the championship, struggled to find pace throughout the weekend and lost valuable ground in the title race. Japan’s Ai Ogura completed the top five with a consistent performance.
After the race, Bezzecchi acknowledged the challenges he faced and credited Álex Márquez for his performance, admitting the Spaniard was the fastest rider on track.
The next round of the MotoGP season will take place at Le Mans for the French Grand Prix, scheduled from May 8 to 10, where the championship battle is expected to intensify further.
