Recently declassified FBI documents released as part of the Trump administration’s UFO transparency initiative have renewed speculation about alleged secret Nazi experimental aircraft projects during the final years of World War II.

De-classified by the FBI, 8 May 2026

The documents, included among newly published government files concerning Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena, contain claims suggesting German engineers may have experimented with “saucer-shaped” aircraft technology as early as 1944.

The material was made public through a broader U.S. government declassification effort involving the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the United States Department of Defense.

Claims of Saucer-Shaped Aircraft

According to the documents, information was allegedly provided by a man identified as Paul Peyerl, who claimed he observed a secret aircraft project in the Black Forest region of Austria during the war.

The reported craft was described as saucer-shaped, approximately 21 feet in diameter, and equipped with multiple jet engines mounted around its exterior.

The files state that the aircraft’s outer section rotated around a stationary central dome and that the vehicle was allegedly radio-controlled.

Peyerl reportedly claimed he had been tasked with photographing the object during test flights and managed to retain photographic negatives despite the risk involved.

According to the documents, he later stated that the project’s lead engineer was a German designer identified only as Kuehr.

The files also claim the engineer attempted to avoid military conscription before allegedly being arrested by the Gestapo.

No Confirmation of Authenticity

Officials stressed that the declassified material does not represent verified conclusions or official findings by the FBI.

The documents themselves reportedly note that the information contained within them should not be interpreted as fact or agency endorsement.

Historians and researchers have long debated claims surrounding alleged advanced Nazi weapons programs developed during World War II.

Germany did pioneer several advanced military technologies during the conflict, including early jet aircraft and ballistic missile systems.

However, many stories involving alleged Nazi “flying saucers” or anti-gravity aircraft remain controversial and largely unverified.

Mystery Surrounding Nazi Engineers

The renewed attention has also revived interest in figures such as Hans Kammler, a senior Nazi engineer whose disappearance at the end of the war remains the subject of speculation among researchers and conspiracy theorists.

Some theories have suggested Kammler may have been secretly taken into U.S. custody after the collapse of Nazi Germany, although no conclusive evidence has ever confirmed such claims.

Trump Praises UFO File Release

Donald Trump praised the broader declassification effort in a statement posted on Truth Social, describing the released materials as relating to “alien and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena and unidentified flying objects.”

The ongoing release of UFO-related government records has intensified public fascination with unexplained aerial sightings, classified military projects, and Cold War-era intelligence operations.

Researchers are expected to continue examining the newly published files as additional records are gradually released to the public.
