Two Delta Connection regional jets operated by Endeavor Air collided on a taxiway at New York’s LaGuardia Airport late Wednesday night, leaving one crew member injured and sparking a federal investigation.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:58 p.m. when two Canadair CRJ-900 aircraft — one preparing for departure and the other arriving — made contact on the taxiway. According to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the departing aircraft’s wing clipped the fuselage of the inbound plane.

Delta confirmed the details in a statement, describing the crash as a “low-speed collision” involving Endeavor Air flight 5155, bound for Roanoke, Virginia, and Endeavor Air flight 5047, arriving from Charlotte, North Carolina.

A flight attendant sustained a minor injury and was taken to a nearby hospital by EMTs as a precaution. No passengers on either aircraft were hurt.

“Delta teams at our New York-LaGuardia hub are working to ensure our customers are taken care of after two Delta Connection aircraft operated by Endeavor Air were involved in a low-speed collision during taxi,” said Morgan Durrant, a Delta spokesperson. “Delta will work with all relevant authorities to review what occurred, as the safety of our customers and people comes before all else. We apologize to our customers for the experience.”

Passengers from both jets were deplaned on the taxiway and transported back to Terminal C by bus. Delta arranged hotel accommodations, rebookings, and provided food and beverages to travelers whose plans were disrupted.

The Port Authority noted that the incident did not impact broader airport operations. The airline confirmed it is cooperating with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), and the Port Authority to determine the cause of the collision.

The episode highlights the challenges of managing one of the nation’s busiest airports, where crowded taxiways and high volumes of air traffic demand strict coordination.
