The 2025 FIA Formula 1 World Championship calendar has been confirmed, matching the scale of the previous season with a formidable 24 Grands Prix scheduled from March to December. The continuity provides stability and marks the championship’s unwavering commitment to a record-equalling number of races.
A Familiar, Grueling Schedule
The season retains the same twenty-four circuits as the previous year, kicking off with the Australian Grand Prix at the high-speed Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne on March 16th.
The calendar then traverses the globe, with highlights including the traditional European summer run, featuring classics like Monaco (May 25th), Silverstone (July 6th), Spa-Francorchamps (July 27th), and Monza (September 7th), before returning for the final flyaway races. The championship concludes, as is customary, with the spectacle of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at the Yas Marina Circuit on December 7th.
Sprint Format Expanded: Six Races to Test the Teams
Adding to the excitement, the controversial but thrilling Sprint format has been confirmed for six Grands Prix throughout the season. These weekends offer additional championship points and shake up the standard weekend structure, demanding maximum focus from teams and drivers across three days.
The six circuits selected to host the Sprint format are:
-
China (Shanghai International Circuit) – Round 2, March 23rd
-
Miami (Miami International Autodrome) – Round 6, May 4th
-
Belgium (Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps) – Round 13, July 27th
-
United States (Circuit of the Americas) – Round 19, October 19th
-
São Paulo (Interlagos Circuit) – Round 21, November 9th
-
Qatar (Lusail International Circuit) – Round 23, November 30th
This selection provides a mix of high-speed tracks (Spa, Lusail) and technical street/stadium circuits (China, Miami, COTA), ensuring a diverse challenge for the teams during these high-pressure, short-format races.
