DIEPPE, France — As the automotive industry stands on the precipice of a total electric transition, Alpine is preparing its most ambitious year yet. According to recent reports and strategic previews, 2026 will mark a definitive turning point for the French marque as it expands its lineup from a niche sports car manufacturer to a versatile high-performance electric brand.

Central to this transformation is the “Dream Garage,” a trio of models designed to bring Alpine’s racing DNA into the EV era. While 2024 and 2025 introduced the foundational elements, 2026 is set to be the year where the full scale of Alpine’s vision becomes a reality on European roads.

The A390: A “Racing Car in a Suit”

The headline for 2026 is undoubtedly the full market arrival of the Alpine A390, the brand’s first-ever sport fastback (crossover). Described by engineers as an “A110 for five people,” the A390 aims to prove that agility and driver engagement are not exclusive to low-slung coupes.

Equipped with a sophisticated triple-motor all-wheel-drive system and Active Torque Vectoring, the A390 is expected to deliver up to 470 hp in its flagship GTS trim. With an 89 kWh battery providing a range of approximately 345 miles (555 km), Alpine is positioning the A390 as a direct rival to the Porsche Macan EV, blending daily practicality with the lightweight philosophy that defined the brand’s heritage.

The A290 and the Electric Hot Hatch Era

Supporting the crossover’s launch is the Alpine A290, the performance-oriented sibling of the Renault 5. By 2026, the A290 will be fully integrated into the market, offering a “Beta” experience for urban drivers who refuse to compromise on sportiness. With a wider track, hydraulic bump stops, and a dedicated “Overtake” button inspired by Formula 1, the A290 serves as the entry point into the new Alpine world.

The Successor to the Legend

Perhaps most anticipated by purists is the development of the all-electric A110 successor. While the current internal combustion engine (ICE) model remains a benchmark for handling, 2026 will see Alpine finalizing the transition for its most iconic nameplate. Early reports suggest a modular platform that could support various body styles, including a roadster and a 2+2 version, ensuring the A110 name continues to dominate the sports car segment in an emission-free future.

Global Ambitions

Under the leadership of the Renault Group, Alpine’s 2026 roadmap isn’t just about new metal; it’s about global relevance. By leveraging its Formula 1 presence and expanding its manufacturing footprint in Dieppe, the brand is evolving into a global powerhouse.

The message from Dieppe is clear: the future of Alpine is electric, but the soul remains unapologetically French and focused on the thrill of the drive.
