SILVERSTONE — Aston Martin Aramco F1 Team has fired a major shot across the bow of its rivals, announcing a “landmark” title partnership that is set to reshape the financial landscape of Formula 1. On Friday, the Silverstone-based outfit confirmed a multi-year deal with cryptocurrency giant Kraken, a move that sees the team rebranded as Aston Martin Aramco Kraken F1 Team for the 2026 season and beyond.

The agreement is being hailed as one of the most lucrative sponsorship deals in the history of the sport, estimated to be worth tens of millions of dollars annually.

Beyond the Decal: A Strategic Integration

Unlike traditional sponsorship deals, the partnership with Kraken is intended to be deeply integrated into the team’s digital ecosystem. According to team principal Mike Krack, Kraken will serve as the team’s official “Crypto and Web3 Partner,” focusing on fan engagement through digital collectibles and exclusive “behind-the-scenes” access powered by blockchain technology.

“This is a milestone moment for us,” Krack stated during the reveal at the team’s new state-of-the-art Technology Campus. “As we enter a new era of Formula 1 regulations in 2026, having a partner that understands the intersection of high-performance technology and the digital future is vital.”

The 2026 Shift

The timing of the announcement is strategic. Formula 1 is preparing for a massive regulatory overhaul in 2026, featuring new power units and a shift toward sustainable fuels. Aston Martin is already transforming, with the team set to become the works partner for Honda engines that same year.

The addition of Kraken provides the financial firepower necessary to compete with the “Big Three”—Red Bull, Ferrari, and Mercedes—as the team seeks to capitalize on the recent signing of legendary designer Adrian Newey.

Crypto Returns to the Grid

The deal marks a significant “comeback” for the cryptocurrency sector in Formula 1. Following the high-profile collapse of FTX (a former Mercedes partner) in 2022, several teams distanced themselves from the industry. However, the Kraken-Aston Martin tie-up suggests that market leaders in the digital asset space are once again viewed as stable, top-tier partners for the world’s most expensive sport.

“Kraken shares our passion for innovation and pushing boundaries,” said Lawrence Stroll, Executive Chairman of Aston Martin. “This partnership will enhance our ability to connect with a younger, tech-savvy global audience as we fight for world championships.”

The team’s 2026 challenger, which will prominently feature Kraken branding on the rear wing and driver overalls, is expected to be unveiled in early February during the official pre-season launch events.
