Donald Trump and Melania Trump were abruptly evacuated on Saturday night from a high-profile dinner in Washington, DC, following a sudden security incident that caused alarm among attendees.
The disruption occurred during the annual White House Correspondents’ dinner, held at the Washington Hilton, where senior government officials, journalists, and public figures had gathered. According to witnesses, a series of loud noises echoed through the ballroom, prompting immediate concern and triggering a rapid response from security personnel.
Secret Service agents quickly moved to escort the president, the first lady, and other top officials away from the head table. Among those present was JD Vance, who was also safely removed from the scene. Authorities later confirmed that both Trump and Vance were “safe and secure.”

Despite the evacuation of key figures, most guests remained inside the ballroom while security protocols were carried out.
Journalist Kellie Meyer, who was present at the event, described hearing multiple sharp sounds that led to immediate panic. She also noted that several Cabinet members were escorted out of the venue as a precaution.
Details surrounding the cause of the incident remain unclear, and officials have not yet confirmed whether the noises were linked to a direct threat or another type of disturbance. No injuries have been reported so far.
Following the evacuation, the event’s host, Weijia Jiang, informed attendees that proceedings would be paused and could resume later once the situation was assessed.
