JERUSALEM – The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released a comprehensive assessment on Monday indicating a sharp decline in Palestinian-perpetrated terrorist activity across the West Bank throughout 2025.

According to data published by the IDF’s Central Command, there was a 78 percent decrease in terrorist incidents in 2025 compared to the previous year. The decline was even more pronounced in attacks involving firearms, which saw an 85 percent drop. Military officials attribute this trend to the sustained impact of “Operation Iron Wall,” a large-scale offensive launched in January 2025 to dismantle militant infrastructure.

The report details that during the past year, Israeli forces conducted approximately 80 brigade-level operations. These missions resulted in the elimination of hundreds of militants and the destruction of 17 weapons-manufacturing sites. Additionally, the IDF reported the seizure of over 1,370 weapons components and the confiscation of 17 million shekels (approximately $4.5 million) in funds intended for terrorist activities.

Military analysts noted a shift in the remaining threats. While 70 percent of Palestinians killed during IDF operations in 2023 and 2024 were armed with guns or explosives, that figure dropped to 40 percent in 2025, with a larger portion of casualties involving individuals engaged in violent riots or stone-throwing.

Despite the overall reduction in attacks, the IDF remains on high alert. Security officials warned that while militant capabilities in northern hotspots like Jenin and Tulkarem have been significantly degraded, there are signs of terrorist organizations attempting to shift their focus toward southern areas of the West Bank.

The IDF concluded that while the “Iron Wall” strategy has successfully curtailed the reach of organized militant cells, continuous offensive activity will be required to maintain the current security stability and prevent a resurgence of violence.
