AMSTERDAM / SEATTLE — Prosus NV, the global technology investment giant, has signed a definitive three-year agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to consolidate its cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) operations. The deal, valued in the “hundreds of millions of dollars,” is designed to scale advanced AI applications across Prosus’s vast portfolio in Latin America, Europe, and India.
The partnership marks a strategic pivot for Prosus under the leadership of CEO Fabricio Bloisi, who is steering the company toward an “AI-first” business model with the ambitious goal of doubling the group’s value by 2028.
The Five Pillars of Transformation
The agreement is structured around five strategic areas intended to streamline operations and enhance the customer experience for more than 2 billion users:
-
Product Innovation: Co-developing next-generation generative AI solutions.
-
System Reliability: Improving uptime and performance for global commerce platforms.
-
Security Frameworks: Strengthening data protection and privacy across regions.
-
FinOps Optimization: Consolidating contracts to achieve double-digit percentage cost savings.
-
Shared Technology Templates: Creating standardized AI models that can be rapidly deployed across different portfolio companies.
Scaling the “Large Commerce Model”
A cornerstone of the deal is the expansion of the Large Commerce Model (LCM). Originally developed by the Brazilian food delivery leader iFood, the LCM is an agentic AI system that uses long-term memory to understand consumer intent, processing 180 million orders monthly.
Under the new AWS deal, Prosus intends to “standardize” this model, rolling it out first across Latin America (via brands like Despegar and OLX), then into Europe (through eMag and Just Eat Takeaway.com), and finally into the Indian market with PayU.
A Global Workforce of AI Agents
Prosus is already operating what it calls the “world’s largest agentic workforce,” with 30,000 specialized AI agents currently automating workflows across the group. The company invests approximately $100 million annually in AI talent and infrastructure, maintaining a team of roughly 1,000 AI specialists who will now collaborate directly with AWS engineers.
“Our past collaboration with AWS enabled iFood and others to scale proven innovations,” said Igor Cardoso, Head of Prosus Ecosystem. “Now, we’re deepening our partnership… to rapidly deploy use cases and unlock an AI-first world for our customers.”
Market Impact
The timing of the deal provides a significant boost for Amazon as it prepares to report its fourth-quarter earnings. For Prosus, the consolidation of its cloud footprint is a clear signal to investors that it is aggressively pursuing profitability and scale through technological integration rather than just capital infusion.
