NAGOYA, Japan — Ibanez has officially pulled back the curtain on its latest high-performance instrument, the BER10, a signature model developed in close collaboration with Austrian guitar sensation Bernth Brodträger. Designed to bridge the gap between the aggressive spirit of the RG series and the refined ergonomics of the AZ line, the BER10 enters the market as a formidable tool for technical guitarists seeking both speed and tonal versatility.
The foundation of the BER10 is a sleek, AZ-style alder body finished in a striking Satin Black. This understated aesthetic is complemented by a roasted maple neck, heat-treated via Ibanez’s S-TECH process to ensure maximum stability and resistance to environmental shifts. The neck features a comfortable “Oval C” profile, paired with a 24-fret ebony fingerboard. In a nod to classic metal aesthetics, the fretboard is adorned with white reversed sharktooth inlays and luminescent side dots, ensuring visibility on the darkest of stages.
At the heart of the guitar’s sonic identity is a pair of Fishman Fluence Bernth Custom Series humbuckers. These active pickups are engineered to deliver a vast array of textures, from crystalline cleans to the razor-sharp distortion required for modern metal. A sophisticated 5-way switching system, combined with a push-pull voicing toggle on the tone control, provides players with eight distinct tonal configurations, effectively eliminating the need for frequent instrument changes during a set.
“This isn’t just another guitar; it’s a tool built to push your playing further, cleaner, and faster,” Bernth stated during the announcement.
Reliability remains a priority in the hardware department. The BER10 is equipped with a Gotoh T1502 tremolo bridge and Gotoh MG-T locking machine heads, a combination designed to maintain rock-solid tuning stability even during expressive dive-bombs and heavy vibrato. A Graph Tech TUSQ XL nut further enhances resonance and prevents string binding.
Produced as part of the Ibanez Premium line in Indonesia, the BER10 includes a padded gig bag and is expected to retail at approximately $1,599. For the modern YouTuber and session professional alike, the BER10 represents a new standard in the intersection of tradition and technical innovation.
