BMW has offered its clearest look yet at the future of high-performance electric driving with the unveiling of the M Concept Neue Klasse, a prototype that previews the upcoming electric M3 expected to arrive in 2027.
Presented during the 2026 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the concept signals BMW M’s commitment to combining its traditional performance heritage with next-generation electric technology. The vehicle is expected to sit alongside a new combustion-powered M3, giving customers a choice between conventional and fully electric performance.
A More Aggressive Neue Klasse Design
The M Concept Neue Klasse builds on the design language introduced by BMW’s Vision Driving Experience concept and the upcoming Neue Klasse sedan range, but with unmistakable M division enhancements.
Its muscular bodywork features significantly widened front and rear fenders, redesigned bumpers with large aerodynamic openings inspired by high-speed multihull racing yachts, a prominent ducktail rear spoiler, and distinctive cube-shaped LED “track lights.”
Finished in Monza Red Metallic, the prototype incorporates dark natural-fiber components across the splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser, hood air intake, and roof. Yellow-tinted M headlights, inspired by endurance racing cars, further emphasize the vehicle’s motorsport credentials.
The concept also features center-lock wheels with aggressive negative camber, while a specially developed M chassis provides a wider stance and lower ride height.
Performance-Focused Interior
Inside, the M Concept Neue Klasse retains the advanced digital architecture of BMW’s future Neue Klasse models, including the BMW Panoramic iDrive display positioned at the base of the windshield.
However, the cabin receives extensive performance-oriented upgrades. Four individual bucket seats are upholstered in Merino leather and equipped with five-point racing harnesses. Structural elements made from natural-fiber composites contribute to weight reduction while enhancing rigidity.
A leather-covered roll cage, Nubuck trim, red accents, and bespoke controls on the steering wheel and center console reinforce the vehicle’s sporting character. The dashboard is wrapped in a black knitted textile material featuring integrated backlighting for a modern and technical appearance.
