The United Arab Emirates and Kuwait have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral military cooperation following high-level defense meetings held in Abu Dhabi, as both Gulf nations seek to strengthen regional security and enhance the operational readiness of their armed forces.
UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with Kuwait’s Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Khaled Al Shuraian, on Tuesday to discuss ways of reinforcing defense ties and reviewing the evolving security landscape across the Middle East.
According to the UAE Ministry of Defense, the meeting reflected the long-standing fraternal relationship between the two countries and focused on expanding military cooperation, improving coordination, and addressing issues of shared strategic importance.
Both sides emphasized that closer defense collaboration is essential to safeguarding regional stability amid continuing geopolitical challenges.
Expanding Defense Partnership
Alongside the presidential meeting, Lieutenant General Al Shuraian held separate talks with UAE Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Issa Al Mazrouei.
The military leaders explored new frameworks for defense cooperation aimed at improving combat readiness, increasing operational efficiency, and strengthening coordination between both armed forces.
Discussions also focused on accelerating knowledge-sharing initiatives, exchanging tactical expertise, and enhancing joint capabilities to respond more effectively to emerging regional threats.
Officials highlighted the importance of maintaining close military cooperation as Gulf states continue adapting to an increasingly complex security environment.
Shared Vision for Regional Stability
The renewed commitment comes as Gulf countries place greater emphasis on collective defense cooperation, military modernization, and interoperability between regional partners.
Both Kuwait and the UAE have expanded investments in advanced defense technologies and multinational security initiatives in recent years, while continuing to cooperate with regional and international allies on maritime security, counterterrorism, and strategic defense planning.
The latest meetings underline the determination of both governments to further strengthen military relations while contributing to broader efforts aimed at preserving peace, security, and stability across the Gulf region.
