In a significant escalation of regional tensions, senior Iranian officials have warned that any military action by the United States will be met with an immediate and “comprehensive” military response. The statements come as a direct rebuttal to recent comments by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding a naval buildup in the region.
Immediate Retaliation Vowed: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi took to social media to declare that Tehran’s armed forces are in a state of high alert. Araghchi emphasized that the lessons learned from previous conflicts, specifically citing a “12-Day War,” have prepared Iran to respond with greater force and speed than ever before. “We will respond even more strongly, rapidly, and profoundly to any aggression against our territory,” Araghchi stated.

The “Limited Strike” Delusion: Ali Shamkhani, a senior advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader, dismissed the possibility of a “limited” or surgical strike by the U.S. as a “delusion.” According to Shamkhani, any military action, regardless of its scale or source, would be viewed as the start of a full-scale war.
He further expanded the scope of Iran’s potential retaliation, warning that the response would not be confined to U.S. assets but would also target “the heart of Tel Aviv” and any allies supporting the aggression.
Context of the Conflict: This exchange follows remarks by President Trump, who recently mentioned a “massive armada” heading toward the region while simultaneously suggesting that Iran should “come to the table” for negotiations.
The heightened rhetoric has raised international concerns over potential miscalculations in the Middle East. Diplomatic observers, including neighboring Türkiye, continue to urge de-escalation and a return to diplomatic channels to prevent a regional catastrophe.
