Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich delivered a Champions League classic in Paris, as the French side secured a dramatic 5-4 victory in the first leg of their semi-final clash.

In what became the highest-scoring semi-final match in the competition’s history, PSG overturned an early deficit to seize control, before Bayern mounted a late comeback that keeps the tie finely balanced heading into the return leg.

The match began with Bayern taking the lead through Harry Kane, who calmly converted a penalty to register his 54th goal of the season. The early advantage, however, was short-lived as PSG responded with attacking intensity.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Ousmane Dembele proved decisive, each scoring twice, while Joao Neves added a powerful header to give the hosts a commanding 5-2 lead just before the hour mark.

Bayern remained dangerous throughout. Michael Olise struck a stunning equaliser earlier in the match, showcasing the German side’s attacking quality. As PSG appeared to be pulling away, Bayern responded with renewed urgency.

Dayot Upamecano reduced the deficit with a well-placed header before Luis Diaz produced a moment of brilliance to bring Bayern within one goal, setting up a tense finale.

The encounter was filled with drama, including contentious penalty decisions and VAR interventions. Dembele converted from the spot after a handball decision against Bayern, while a late goal for the German side was initially ruled out before being awarded following review.

Despite PSG’s attacking dominance for large stretches, Bayern’s late surge ensured the tie remains open ahead of the second leg in Germany.

The result highlights both PSG’s offensive firepower and Bayern’s resilience, setting the stage for a decisive return match that promises further drama.
