Category: North Korea Military

North Korea maintains one of the largest militaries in the world, with over 1 million active-duty troops and an estimated 7 million in reserve and paramilitary forces. While much of its conventional equipment is outdated, the regime has prioritized asymmetric capabilities, including nuclear weapons, ballistic missiles, and cyber warfare. The military is heavily fortified, with extensive underground facilities and strategic use of mountainous terrain, allowing for prolonged defensive operations. Under Kim Jong Un’s leadership, the country has increasingly focused on modernizing its missile arsenal to deter U.S. and allied forces in Northeast Asia.
